“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Small Steps
When it comes to simply cooking, I always start out with the same few steps:
Spices, and lots of them. I will use the same few, like rainbow pepper, Black Hawaiian Sea Salt, red pepper flakes, and add a couple of different ones such as turmeric or cilantro, oregano, curry or any other spice that I think might go well with what I am preparing (these are the spices I like and are my go-to spices…you may have others that you like better…go for it! What ever your taste buds like…do it!).
Oils- yes people, your body does need fat to survive, just make sure its good fat. My go to’s are Coconut oil, EVOO or Sesame oil. Each one has a different and unique taste and quality does matter!
Last but not least, and I mean don’t be sparing on this, the more the better! Garlic! Before I began down this road of eating clean I read a book (well lots of them) but this particular one suggested not to never use anything else but fresh garlic when using garlic. I didn’t understand that because in the past all I ate was the bottled, processed garlic. Well I am here to tell you…it does matter!
Simply add chicken, fish or your favorite veggies sauté, add in rice or a favorite pasta (gluten free of course) and voila you are done!
So that was about 15-20 minutes depending on how you prepared the pasta or rice, right?
How hard was that? Or should I say how easy, fast, and “simply cooking” was that?
This is how I prepare 95% of my meals, and I can assure you there are zero complaints from the family on my meals.
